John Reddyhoff (KWVR) – “Locomotive Wheelsets”

The Keighley Association of Engineers is pleased to announce its first November 2023 event in the 2023 syllabus, a talk by John Reddyhoff KWVR on Railway Wheelsets – a safety critical engineering component. This is a follow-up to our recent visit to Keighley Worth Valley Railway where John Reddyhoff was our guide. He will cover:

• Why is a wheelset important – safety, quality, and cost.
• Engineering requirements for a wheelset
• Lessons learned from history.
• Wheelset design and manufacture.
• Maintenance of wheelsets in service.
• Innovation
