Visit to Outhwaite Rope Makers, Hawes

The Keighley Association of Engineers is pleased to announce its next event in the 2014 syllabus, a visit to the renowned Outhwaite Ropeworks, located in the picturesque town of Hawes to be followed by lunch and a tour of the Richard Arkwright designed Gayle mill originally established to process raw cotton and later converted to a water driven mechanised saw mill in 1879.
A guided tour of Outhwaite Ropes by the owner, Peter Annison, will follow. Peter is the person who understands, specifies and maintains the machinery at this unique site.
