September 10, 2014 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

The Keighley Association of Engineers is pleased to announce its next event in the 2014 syllabus, a talk by Mr Mike Clarke on the Leeds Liverpool Canal.

Canals and canal boats, stationary and railway steam engines, vintage cars, textile machinery, water and wind mills have all featured in Mike’s work as a professional industrial and canal historian.

Join us for a no doubt fascinating talk on this iconic Yorkshire canal. Prompt attendance for a 7.30 start is requested. We look forward to your company once again kindly hosted by Phoenix Service Solutions in Keighley.

Mike is, however, best known for his extensive work on the history and heritage of the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. His expertise in this field extends to research into the history of inland waterways across the world, and has been consulted regarding several applications for canal sites seeking World Heritage status. Mike has been involved with conservation and recording industrial heritage in Britain since the late 1960s, and has travelled widely in Europe, researching European inland waterways, since the early 1990s. More recently he has travelled to China, helping with their application for World Heritage status for the Grand Canal.
