DESCRIPTION:The Association is pleased to announce that the Keighley Model Railway Club are hosting a visit for us at their premises on South Street\, Keighley. Their Chairman\, Charles Oldroyd\, will talk to us about the club and show the Association around various club layouts. We will find out the difference between analogue and DCC control. We will see an alternative way to control points on a layout. You’ll be able to ask those burning model railway questions where the internet just does not hit the spot. Charles will be talking about trains and layouts. \nThe event is open to members and members’ friends. Children and Grandchildren are most welcome. DESCRIPTION:The Keighley Association of Engineers is pleased to announce our April event in our 2023 syllabus\, a visit to Allerton Waste Recovery Park\, Knaresborough. \nAllerton Waste Recovery Park is a state-of-the-art centre where we will see the present and the future of recycling a wide variety of waste. \nAllerton Waste Recovery Park is a state-of-the-art facility treating ‘black bag’ waste from households across the county. \nThe site became operational in March 2018 and employs 90 local people. It is hoped that both engines will run under steam towards the end of our visit. \nSad to say that the Cornish Boiler which feeds steam to the engines has required skilled and expensive work on its vessel over the winter but it is now fully tested and remains safe having had skilled attention with proper inspections and pressure testing.  Alas this work has caused a steaming to be cancelled and money saved for chimney re pointing has had to be used. \nOur association  will make a donation to Bancroft’s funds in recognition of their kindness in steaming the engines for us and for the fact that we shall have an informed guide during our stay. Members may bring a guest or family member\, you are still at liberty to make a donation to Bancroft’s funds.
